Sarasota Resources

New to the Sarasota Area? Here are some things to see:

Siesta Key, once voted as having the best sand in the world. You might be surprised by the abundance of wildlife on such a heavily used beach.

Siesta Key Village, tourist area extraordinaire. Lots of bars and places to eat lite fare, and souvenir shopping. Watch your speed and remember to stop for pedestrians.

Another really pretty place is the bayfront, which is essentially at the foot of downtown. Bayfront Park you can walk around the marina, dine al fresco at or upscale.

Feel like taking a touristy water ride? Buy tickets on “Le Barge” the barge with giant palm trees, which cruises around the bay.

From the bayfront you can turn onto Main Street. What else would it be called? Sarasota is blessed with a little downtown. Interesting little restaurants, shops, and bars here. Also catch a movie at the movie theater.

St. Armand’s is good for an evening stroll, a high end dinner, and great ice cream.

Don’t miss John Ringling’s home, the restored Ca d’Zan, and the very significant art museum.

For the nature lover, there’s Mote Marine and Myakka State Park.; the serious horticulturalist, Selby Gardens.
